Author Topic: No support for Square-screen (240x240) devices?  (Read 1896 times)

hi,

I tested FitSync on my Treo 750 (240x240 screen) and it won't fit (no pun intended...).
There are scroll bars all over the application as the control do not fit the square screen.

Any plans to support square-screen devices?

Thanks,
Z

Hi Z-
We're looking into this - we have a decent number of Treo users running our app on Windows Mobile without any trouble but most of these folks are in Asia so it is possible that U.S. Treo versions sourced through a carrier may have different implementations of Win Mobile.  The reason you're getting the vertical and horizontal scroll bars is of course because our app isn't fitting on your screen in one view.  The app will still work but it clearly isn't optimal having to scroll to enter data - the design of our interface is such that in the gym you can do everything without a stylus, just tap the screen.

Let us know where you got your Treo and the mobile service provider you're using and this could provide us some clues.  In the meantime we'll be researching on our end.  Any other Treo users out there please jump in and let us know your experiences.

Hi,

I have a standard Treo 750 (Cingular, AT&T, Vodafone). All Treo 750 are square-screen 240x240 as they share the same hardware limitation.
As a matter of fact Treo 750, 750v, 700w and 700wx all have 240x240 screens, I'd love to know if any of your users is using one of these devices and is not seeing vertical and/or horizontal scroll bars when using FitSync.

Thanks
Z.

Hi Z-
We're still doing some snooping but I think our other U.S. Treo users might have the 320x320 screens that are on the 700p, 755 (both from Sprint) and 680 (Cingular).  We're also checking to see if the Asian and European and unlocked 240x240 Treos might allow you to change the view/display of apps maybe by changing font size like you would do with a browser.  It's always dicey with U.S. phones from carriers since they disable things and use different implementations of the OS which won't show up in emulators - we need to play with the actual device.  I've seen on other boards that folks do find that a lot of third party apps especially business apps are designed for bigger screens and don't display well on 240x240 but we'll keep checking and report back.
