Author Topic: App for Android  (Read 828 times)

Hey,

I'm a new user of FitSync - and it looks right up my street and just what I need.

However - my gym is kind of in a bunker underground and there is no internet access.  I have a HTC Hero device running Android but without a connection I can't access the site, so logging my sessions is going to be impossible.

It is a pity (and I'm sure this has been raised before) that there are not apps for Android devices (and iPhone I guess, boo hiss!) so that the workouts can be downloaded to the phone for offline access - and then when a internet connection comes back the workout details are sync'd back.

Is this in the pipeline do you know?  It would turn a great tool into an unmissable tool in my opinion.

Thanks

Just seen another post regarding this - and an offline mode is possible.  However - it would be nice if the app was really an app and not a website to visit - and that we didn't have to keep the site open until we managed to sync.

(in my opinion) it would be better to have an app that worked offline, and allowed syncing to be done at anytime.

Hey Arran-
Thanks for checking in, appreciate the feedback.

We do have an offline version for Android which lets you close the app and then relaunch offline (you don't need to keep the browser open) so you can log your workouts down in the bunker and then sync later when you come out.  However, this version only works for Android 2.0 Eclair so you might have to wait a bit before they upgrade the Hero.

We also have some other upgrades coming in the next few weeks but we'll send out some global messages to advise when they go live.

Brilliant - cheers for the reply John.

HTC say the Hero upgrade to 2.1 should be out before Xmas - so maybe not too long to wait.

I look forward to the announcement and thanks for replying.
