Congratulations FitSync!  In case some of you didn't see it, there was an article called "Calling all fitness buffs" in the November issue of Muscle & Fitness, which I read all the time.  This is what they wrote about FitSync:
"FitSync gives you the next best thing to a gym buddy.  It's a web-based application that allows you to download free training programs, log your workouts and compare your performance against a worldwide community of online subscribers."

'bout time more people know about your great app!

This is how I found out about fitsync.com.  I am new and looking forward to recording my workouts.  I always liked to record them with a notebook, but this will be much easier.  I am looking into buying a pda.  Anyone have any recommendations?

hey foursixty
welcome!  460 - is that how much you bench?  We look forward to viewing your workout widgets Smiley

I have a Dell Axim X30 and an HP iPAQ rx3417, which is a multi-media device.  They're older models now.  Between these 2 models, I find the HP easier to use e.g. much simpler to set up Wi-Fi; you can charge the device by connecting it into the USB of your laptop instead of a cradle and sharper screen.  In general I find that HP devices are sturdier and more reliable.

Welcome FourSixty.  Yup logging on a PDA or phone instead of paper is a complete transformation and it's cool to see your volume totals add up for both weight and distance (especially if you swim, cycle, or run).  Be warned that you will become a training log addict and pretty much record every single thing you do so you get credit for it in your totals but it definitely makes a big difference in your training.

Regarding PDAs, I would go with a Windows Mobile/Pocket PC version since that is FitSync's most feature rich version with videos and exercise libraries, etc.  I've had great luck with HP iPAQs - sturdy, slim and they have some value priced models so you don't need to spend a lot.  You can also get some deals from mobile phone carriers like T-Mobile or Sprint on their hybrid devices but make sure you don't get a phone with the "smartphone" operating system like on the Motorola Q; it's different from the full Pocket PC Windows Mobile and won't run anything.  The Spring Mogul and the AT&T Kaiser are pretty cool but the tradeoff is they are heavier than a straight iPAQ PDA.

In the gym I use an HP iPAQ 1950 with the HP leather hip holster (about $30 from HP or online).  The PDA is light and slim and I can slide it in and out and log with one hand so between sets maybe 5 seconds to log.  Hope this helps.

Matthew
What paper are you referring to and what article?  Was this in the Star or NST?  When was it do you recall?

If your Motorola PDA uses Windows Mobile (but NOT the Smartphone edition) you can sync to your online FitSync account by using Active Sync.  That's how I do it with my Axim - yes it has Wi-Fi but I haven't set it up (a bit more steps than the HP).  So when I have the Internet connected on my laptop, I just plug the Axim into the cradle and in FitSync opened in the PDA, I hit Sync Over the Internet.  OR you can get GPRS-data service for your phone and use the Java version of FitSync  Wink
