App or Web access?

Hello,
I am confused by the options to access my fit sync data on my iphone.
The app costs 4.99, but there seems to be a way to access it through safari? Is accessing it through safari free?
Does accessing the account through safari require a paid subscription or is that considered web access because it is via an internet browser?
The website seems very unclear as to what requires a subscription and what doesn't.

i use the app on my phone so i don't need Internet access at the gym, sometimes the signal is not too good in the basement
