Yeah I really like your new stuff especially the rankings so I can compare myself to something other than the hardcore bodybuilding superfit girls who could all kick my butt AND then I'm always hard on myself when I miss some days at the gym cuz I think I'm getting fat by the minute.

So I did a bunch of hte ranking exercises and saw I'm in great shape for my age AND I could even pass the FBI fitness test so that's pretty cool and good for the motivation.  Only problem is I went and did 65 bodyweight squats while watching Idol and it didn't feel too bad except my legs were burning a bit BUT today I can barely walk!  So, give the rankings a shot but don't be fooled thinking some of the stuff is easy

Keep up the good work guys!

I'm just starting to learn the new features of fitsync and the community forums. I believe they've upgraded recently? (or I've been so out of touch that I've not noticed this) What is this ranking thing that Michelle and Steele had mentioned about? Help...

hi wstnat
Good to see you on the boards!  You can find Rankings on the left side of the page.  When you put in your age and gender in your prfile for rankings, then you can compare with other women.  Otherwise you'll be competing with the guys!  Your profile looks really kewl.  Are you in a band?  You must look really good on stage if you work out all the time.

hey wstnat - girl are you really 107 years old like your profile says?  Yeah you can click the Rankings on your left nav and then try some of them.  They're all bodyweight and age and gender ranked so you can compete equally with everyone but the point is to compete with yourself and do your best whatever that is.  There's some crazy guy who has done 205 bodyweight squats!   Hey, it's all about challenging yourself physically, mentally, emotionally - just you and no excuses and no barriers but the ones in your mind.

Oh yeah, cool band - keep rockin girl

It's great to see Fitsync upgraded. I have the program since way back in 2001 but stopped using it since I didn't have time to workout. Now I've moved back to Manila after too many years in the US and have joined Fitness First. I just upgraded to the new version on Palm which worked pretty well with my wifi card. The best refresh was in the website. You've done a lot with it and it seems to have a very well thought out interface, as well as being a good resource. I wonder if you are pushing this software with the Fitness First trainers here. Then again, Manila folks don't have a penchant for pda functionality, unlike in the U.S. Palm- or MS Mobile-based phones are in the minority so it'd hard to find traction for these in Manila as far as the trainers are concerned. But for individual personal use, just as mine is, there would be some great use for it.

I'm happy to see that some of your workout have movies showing the workout routine. That is great! Any chances those could be downloaded to my Palm? That way I could view them in the gym. As far as the PDA functionality is concerned, I still have to use it to give it a better evaluation. I am still on my Zire 71 but that shouldn't be a problem because the Palm hasn't differed much in its current state.

Hi Yerrago, welcome back!  Wow, you are one of our original customers from way back in 2001 so good to know that you are now back into your workout routine.  Check out the Rankings section which is good for staying motivated.

Yup, lots of major changes over the past year to both the Web and mobile applications.  We completely rebuilt the Palm app so it syncs faster but the Pocket PC/Win Mobile is our real showcase mobile app with videos and searchable exercise libraries (that's the version all of the trainers at Fitness First in Malaysia are using).  We also have a Java J2ME version that will run on most handphones.  The Palm version does not have video BUT you can still view videos from your Palm browser.

To view videos from any handheld, launch the browser and go to http://fitsync.com/mobile.  Login with your FitSync username and password and you can then view any of the videos.  We'll be expanding the mobile portal to include rankings and profiles (so you can search for workout partners, etc.)  The Palm and the Java version are primarily for logging - nothing too fancy since we want to make it easy to log your workouts.  The Windows Mobile version is what is also used for our Pro versions for trainers so lots of bells and whistles.

Stay in touch and let us know how we're doing and how we can improve.

Thanks so much for the info. And you're right... it's interesting to compare but it's more satisfying to see your own progress, more than anything else.
Steele: 107 seems like a good age to live up to, if I keep working out regularly and eat right.
Michelle: Yes. I play the bass guitar.

Hiya Yerrago

I also have a Zire 71 that works fine for me in the gym.  Hey, did your Zire ever crash completely?  Mine totally totally crashed about 2 years ago with no warning at all.  One day it was fine and the next it freaked on me.  I tried everything but it was completely hosed.  Then I saw some posts ona PDA site about problems with the SD card so I removed my SD card, did a full reset, reinstalled the latest Palm OS patch and my sweetie was baaaack!  As long as I keep the SD card out of the slot its fine.

Anyhoo, I have a bunch of devices cuz I'm kind of a gadget addict so I have FitSync installed on my iPAQ, my Sony Ericcson mobile phone, and my ZIre 71 so I pretty much grab whichever device is fully charged!  But seriously I do like all the cool stuff they have on their iPAQ version but most of the time I use my little blue Zire cuz it's my favorite color.

Also most of the time when I change my workouts around or want to try different ones I'll do all that on the Web and sort the exercises the way I want and everything, add some notes or whatever.  Then I'm set - I hit the gym and just do the workout.  Works for me.

Later

I notice you have really good stats on your progress.  How do you keep track?  Do you use a PDA or phone?

A Sony Ericsson? You can do it on a Symbian? Swell. Wonder if I can do it on my k610i. I should try that so I won't have to carry something big when I go workout. This should at least get the folks in Manila on board Fitsync, since PDA-type phones, being bulky and expensive, aren't really that popular with the folks here.

Hey yerrago, yeah I have a Sony Ericsson K700i and I downloaded the FitSync J2ME app and it runs fine.  Nothing fancy but for logging my workouts its great.  Also I don't need a constant connection so I don't ahv to worry about network coverage.  My gym is in a lower level and no one can get a signal.  You just sync, download all yoiur workouts and then log all you want.  Then when you havea  signal you can upload everything.  Real slick.  Works great for me cuz I always have my phone with me Wink
