This is neat! I'm new to fitsync (although the feature has always been available to Fitness First members here in Malaysia), so I'm gonna give this a shot - I've always wanted to track my progress, but never just got up to carrying a paper and pen to the gym.

Yo Noel, yeah you don't need no stinkin paper and pencil no more! - jus track on your handphone or pda that's what I do. I download all my workouts to my phone so I can track anywhere so even if I don't ahve time to get to d gym I do some pushups and bodyweight squats in the office (I close the door cuz people think I'm nuts!). If I make it to the gym I'll do my hardcore workout but it's cool cuz my workouts are always in my phone. Have a good weekend and welcome.

hi everyone I haven't been tracking my progress either but seems like a very good idea, yes? I was chatting with someone in my gym and she was telling me that many skinny women actually have a high bodyfat percentage. That's why their skin start to sag, esepcially around the arms. Whats a good exercise for me to firm up my arms so I look better in sleeveless blouse?

yeah, those jiggly bits under the arms start to show as we get older Doing tricep dips would help keep them firm. You can do them using a steady chair or on the stairs at home.

Hi Chrissy. To firm your triceps you can also try Dumbbell Kickbacks and Dumbbell French Presses - they'll be a little easier than dips if you're just starting out. And like the chair dips you can do them at home with a dumbbell or you can take an empty plastic container (like a milk jug) and fill it up until the weight is right and use that. I like the French Presses because they work your triceps over a full range of motion. Go into the exercise libraries and type in a search for "triceps" and pick the "Arms" major muscle group.
You're right about body fat percentage; arms can be like abs; no matter how much you tone and tighten you won't see it if you don't lean down a bit. You might also find that once you start working out regularly you'll need to eat more to maintain your nutrition and keep your energy up. This will help you build muscle (you might also consider some protein shakes before and after your workout). Don't worry, you're not going to bulk up like Schwarzenegger! but you will look great in a couple of weeks as everything starts to tighten up a bit.
Also do some bodyweight squats which are great for your legs and behind. Do them while you're watching TV and then throw in some crunches. You'll be amazed at how much progress you can make if you do 20 minutes every day while watching the telly. Good luck!

Hi ev'vryone !! FitSync is wonderful! - especially the recently improved version - with its articles on fitness. It clears up a lot of myths and misconception about exercising. All Fitness First members should be strongly encouraged to check out the FitSync. Sadly, I believe, it is being under utilised. Many of the members do not know its purpose and appreciate its usefulness. I especially like the monthly workout planner and videos showing the numerous exercises. However, I find the idea of downloading into my handphone or PDA is a novel concept but a wee bit impractical. Gym wear do not normally come with pockets! Where are we going to keep our hp when we're pumping iron? Leave it around and you'll soon find it missing! I know members who have to ask their trainers to hold their hp for them while doing PT (personal training). PAP (pen and paper) is better for me...

Hey there Jyane. Glad you like FitSync, I track everything from my gym workouts to cycling and even swimming. Tracking is great for motivation because I always try and push and do a little better than last time. Sometimes I use my PDA and sometimes my mobile phone. The best way to carry your device is with a holster that clips onto the waist band on your workout shorts. The only time you need to take it off is if you do side bends over a Roman Chair otherwise it is on your hip and easily accessible. I use a holster by HP that fits my iPAQ and my Sony Ericsson mobile. After each set I can pull out my iPAQ, log my weight and reps, and put the iPAQ back in the holster in about 10 seconds all with one hand. Guys with paper and notebooks are still trying to remember where they left their notebook and I'm onto my next set! Here's what I use...

hey Jyane, welcome! Your profile's really inspiring. Yea i agree more people at Fitness First need to find out about FitSync. I told some friends bout it and they thot it's really kewl. I'm surprised your a pAp gal There're sooo many phone holders and pda holsters around, not to mention fanny packs for your handphone or hp. Saying you prefer paper is like saying you don't like computers becoz with paper you don't need electricity ok ok I'm just teasing but grrl you needa get yourself a nice looking leather holster and enuf of this paper

Hey Bobo, what are you trying to track? I track my strength training, swimming, and cycling. It's great motivation to always try and beat what I did last time plus the My FitSync page will show all your stats.

Hi bobo, welcome! I schedule my workouts and then before I go to the gym, I sync my HP iPAQ to download my workouts. Then at the gym I just follow my workout and try to do what the targets say. Soemtimes if I'm too tired (maybe out too late at night) I can't do waht the targets say. I log all my exercises on my HP and after teh workout, I sync wirelessly and my data is uploaded to my FitSync account. My FitSync reports tell me what percentage of targets I'm hitting and other analysis. Do you have a pda? If not, you can use your handphone (you'll need GPRS with data service). Once you start tracking, we can check out your stats on your widget
