Author Topic: Automatic Target Setting to Last Workout  (Read 791 times)

Hi:

I noticed that the target for exercises remains the same whether I outperformed the exercise or not on my last workout.  It would be nice if there was an automatic new target so that we would have a new challenge the next time we did the workout instead of having to manually change the targets.

Thanks for the suggestion, Guillermo.  We've experimented with a variety of methods to automatically increase targets but because everyone progresses at different rates it is difficult.  There are also different theories on progression such as increasing resistance by a certain percentage every week or two weeks.

The problem is that depending on body type, age, experience and training intensity, everyone will progress at different rates.  That's why we let the users set their own targets.  Some will set a target to aim for (you can do 10 reps now but the target is 12) and once they are consistently exceeding it will then increase their resistance (or distance in running or swimming).  Others will set an absolute target - if their current best is 10 reps, the target is 10 reps.  Up to the user to decide.

Have you checked out our Rankings section?  You can compare yourself to standards in bodyweight exercises like pushups, pullups and crunches or in Olympic events like swimming and running.  See how you measure up against your age and gender or against current world records.

We'll be introducing some new features on goal setting that will give users more options to set goals.

Thanks again for your suggestions.
